Graffiti protection and graffiti removal

Graffiti protection and graffiti removal

In addition to classic building cleaning, we have been intensively involved in the field of graffiti removal and graffiti protection for 17 years.

Graffiti protection systems prevent or reduce the penetration of color pigments and solvents into a building material, e.g. facade. We recommend protecting particularly absorbent substrates (e.g. sandstone) in all cases. However, no anti-graffiti protection can guarantee 100% protection and residue-free removal of graffiti smear. Thanks to our many years of experience, we can also achieve good optical cleaning results with problematic contamination. Before a graffiti protection is even applied, various factors have to be considered. The aspects of graffiti protection can already be taken into account in the construction planning or renovation.

- Building physics aspects (e.g. diffusion)

- optical influence (degree of gloss)

- optimal cleaning process (e.g. hydrothermal)

- Weather influences (e.g. UV radiation, weathering of the facade, microorganisms)

In addition to the graffiti protection impregnation, there are 3 main types of graffiti protection systems:

Temporary systems:

The temporary protection systems, or the so-called victim protection systems, include all protection systems that are removed together with the graffiti during cleaning. This temporary protective system must be reapplied after each cleaning.

Semi-permanent protection systems:

These protective systems usually consist of two protective layers. As a rule, these systems contain a non-reversible underlayer and a reversible protective layer. As with the temporary systems, the reversible protective layer is removed during cleaning and must then be replaced again.

Permanent protection systems:

With the permanent graffiti protection systems, as the name suggests, the protection system remains completely intact even after cleaning. Protected surfaces can be cleaned several times without having to renew the protection system. The durability of the protection system naturally also depends on the spray medium used and the weather. Aggressive spray media can also attack and damage solvent-stable protective systems. High UV radiation can also affect the durability of permanent protective systems.

In any case, graffiti should be removed promptly to prevent new spray attacks.

The methods we use to remove graffiti are:

• Hot and cold water high pressure cleaning • Chemical removal method • High pressure steam cleaning

• Soda blasting • Sandblasting process, particle blasting • Vacuum removal / without chemicals and water • Computer-aided color measurement
